Precise Connections. The logical choice.
Because all people are created in the image of God, Precise Connections seeks to uphold and respect human rights and not contribute to conflict through avoiding the purchase of products and components that contain conflict minerals which directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or an adjoining country. This intent is reflected by Secdtion 1502 of the United States Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.
Conflict minerals include columbite-tantalite (coltan), cassiterite, gold, wolframite, and other minerals or their derivatives determined by the Secretary of State. Tantalum, tin, gold, and tungsten are conflict metals derived from these conflict minerals. As a contract electronics manufacturer, Precise Connections procures components and supplies required by our customers for turnkey electronics manufacturing and also uses components provided by our customers for consigned electronics manufacturing. Electronic components and supplies necessarily contain conflict metals, as shown in the following non-exhaustive examples below:
- Tantalum is used in some capacitors
- Tin is used in solder and in the surface finish of some bare Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
- Gold is used as a surface finish on some bare PCBs, and on pads and contacts of some parts and interconnects
- Tungsten is used within Integrated Circuits (ICs) and in some heat sinks
While we recognize the difficulty of tracing to the smelter level for all components and supplies utilized within contract electronics manufacdturing, Precise Connections is committed to learning, avoiding, and promoting conflict-free minerals sourcing. Precise Connections does not directly purchase any conflict minerals in raw form and seeks to partner with suppliers, distributors, and customers who are also working to ensure conflict-free minerals sourcing. If we become aware of conflict minerals that do not originate from DRC conflict-free smelters in products or components that we purchase or utilize in manufacturing, we will discontinue purchase or pursue measures to influence smelter compliance, alternative sourcing, or alternative components wherever possible.
